Clarkson Estates, a nine-story affordable housing project at 329 Clarkson Avenue in Flatbush, Brooklyn. Developed by Empire State Development, the structure will yield 328 apartments, including 164 supportive units for the formerly homeless, as well as a 30,000-square-foot community facility and 80 rentable parking spaces. The project is a part of the state’s Vital Brooklyn initiative, which seeks to address social, economic, and health disparities in Brooklyn.
Amenities will include a resident training kitchen, community gardens, an indoor fitness center, and various communal spaces. Each apartment will offer free wireless internet access as part of the governor’s ConnectALL initiative.
The community facility, named the Dr. Roy A. Hastick, Sr. Community Hub, will provide educational, health-focused, and recreational programs. It will include a café, childcare facility, and a basketball gym open to the community. The structure is engineered to Passive House standards and will utilize energy-efficient features like heat pumps, Energy Star appliances, LED lighting, and triple-pane windows. Funding for the project was sourced from housing bonds, Low-Income Housing Tax Credits, subsidies, and clean energy initiatives. Construction is expected to conclude in August 2026.
